How to Get to Heaven
Step One
God's Plan: Eternal, Abundant Life and Peace
God loves you and wants you to experience eternal life, abundant life, peace, and a personal relationship with Him.
God created you.
"For you created my inmost being, you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made, your works are wonderful. I know that full well." Psalm 139:13-1
God loves you and offers eternal life.
"For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."
John 3:16
God wants you to experience abundant life.
"I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." John 10:10
Why don’t most people have this abundant life and peace that God planned for us to have?
Step Two
The Problem: Our sin keeps us from having a personal relationship with God.

Since God did create us in His own image to have an abundant life, he did not make us like robots to involuntarily love and obey Him. God has given us a free will—the freedom to make our own choices.
The Bible says...
What is sin?
"Anyone then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins." James 4:17
Who has sinned?
"...for all (that means me and you) have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
What happens when we sin?
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23
Throughout history, people have sensed
their separation from God. They have tried
to bridge the gap in many different ways
without success.

The Bible says...
"There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death." Proverbs 14:12
There is only one bridge to reach God!
Step 3
The Bridge to God = The Cross
Jesus Christ "bridged the gap" between us and God because He paid the penalty for our sins. Jesus died on the cross and rose three days later so that we might have a personal relationship with God.
The Bible says...
"Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.’" John 14:6
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we
were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
God has provided the only way to a personal realtionship with Him and to Heaven. Each person must make a choice.
Step 4
You must personally respond by receiving Jesus Christ and trusting in Him to remove your sin.
The Bible says...
"That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9
Where are you? Is there any good reason why you cannot receive Jesus Christ right now?
Here is how you can receive Christ right now.
Admit you have a need. Willingly say "I am a sinner".
Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave.
Confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior trusting fully in Him and what He did on the cross for you.
Here is a suggested prayer for you to pray:
Dear Father God,
I know that my sin has separated me from you and that I need your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus died in my place, paying the price for my sins. I ask You Jesus to forgive my sin and to come into my life as my personal Savior and Lord. I place my trust in You and You alone Jesus. Help me by your grace and strength to live my life for You and Your purpose for my life. Thank you for giving me the gift of eternal life.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Now what do I do?
This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ. To strengthen this relationship you should:
1. Read your Bible everyday to know Christ better.
2. Talk to God in prayer every day.
3. Tell others about Jesus Christ.
4. Worship, fellowship and serve with other Christians in a church where Christ is preached.
5. As Christ’s representative in a needy world, demonstrate your new life by your love and concern for others.
